The Rose Bowl hosts a variety of tournaments from time to time. The New Castle City Tourney bowls every spring with some bowling during league and others on weekends. We often host middle school and high school sectional and regional competitions. Our biggest tournament is our own Summer Shootout with competition lasting for six weeks. You will find information on our tournaments and school competitions on this page when appropriate.

Ten years ago, one of our loyal league bowlers, Monty Ankrom, suggested we begin an annual six-week-long tournament. It was a big hit the first year and has grown every year since. We’ve had bowlers drive 350 miles to participate. With 314 teams bowling last summer we awarded over $42,000 in prize money. Given the huge response this year, we expect the prize funds to exceed $50,000. But it’s not just about the money. Competitive, yes, but it’s also a lot of fun. We get rave reviews every year about our environment, our staff, and our great food. We still have plenty of spots open, so form a team and sign up. You can bowl as many times as you want though the same team of five can’t repeat. Change out on person and compete again. First place team wins $5,000 plus a new Storm, Roto Grip, or 900 Global ball of choice for each team member. We’re also giving away two Storm, Roto Grip, or 900 Global balls of choice as random door prizes the first two weeks of the tournament. Each time you bowl from June 22 through July 3 earns you an entry in the random drawing. This is an official USBC-sanctioned tournament, with handicap based on 90% of 220. Prepayment guarantees your spot.
